If you are confused about some of the project's terminology, look no further. This section provides a glossary of the proposed project improvements.

Passing
lanes – Passing lanes provide
an extra lane for a short distance to allow
faster traffic to pass slower vehicles in
order to maintain proper traffic flow and
operational efficiency. |
Turn pockets – Turn pockets provide a separate lane for vehicles turning left into oncoming traffic. These additions and improvements will increase travel speed by reducing the percent-time-spent-following and vehicle platooning along the corridor. |
Truck Curves – Truck curve corrections will improve maneuverability on certain curves and enable legal length vehicles to stay within traffic lanes when traveling through curved sections. |
Non-standard
curves –Non-standard curve corrections
will improve traffic operations. |
Lane widening – Lane widening to twelve feet will increase driving speed and increase traffic safety by improving maneuverability and room for vehicles to avoid roadway hazards (e.g. falling rocks and other debris). |
